Discover the hidden charm of the Grigne mountains with a unique excursion to Grotta Ferrera (or Grotta dell’Acqua Bianca).
The itinerary starts from Rongio, above Mandello del Lario, along mule tracks and through woods, guided by a medium mountain guide. After an easy walk, a speleologist will lead us into the underground world, illustrating the exploration techniques and discoveries made in the Grigne and on site.
During the tour, we will explore naturalistic, mountaineering and historical aspects, with particular attention to the link with Leonardo da Vinci and the partisan events in the area. On the way back, we will discover the village of Rongio, among woods and scenic trails.
An experience that combines adventure, history and wonder, immersing us in a unique landscape and an underground world to be discovered step by step.
Programme
09:00 a.m. – Meet in Rongio (Mandello del Lario) and departure for the guided excursion with a medium mountain guide.
10:00 a.m. – Arrival at the Grotta Ferrera, preparation with helmets and headlamps, and entry in small groups with the speleologist.
11:30 a.m. – End of the underground visit, insights into geology, local history and ancient explorations. Start of the descent and short visit to the village of Rongio
12:30 p.m. – Return to the starting point
