“Manto di Stelle” lights up Christmas in the districts of Lecco!

The city brings its Christmas atmosphere to the neighbourhoods thanks to the “Manto di Stelle” initiative: a widespread trail of lights and projections, designed to highlight symbolic places and everyday spaces.

The neighbourhoods involved are: Acquate, Belledo, Bonacina, Castello, Chiuso, Germanedo, Maggianico, Malavedo, Olate, Pescarenico, Rancio, San Giovanni and Santo Stefano.

During the Christmas period, Piazza Era in Pescarenico, the Belledo wash house, the Laorca Lab, the Maggianico oratory, the parish church of Chiuso and the primary schools of Acquate, Castello, Germanedo and San Giovanni will be illuminated with projections.

Light cones will be placed at the most representative points of the neighbourhoods: on Viale Turati in Santo Stefano, in the square in Via Galilei in Bonacina, in the churchyards of Olate and Malavedo and in Via Don Bosco, in front of the church in Rancio.

The route will also be enriched with elements dedicated to the history and culture of the city. In Maggianico, luminous inscriptions will be placed in homage to Antonio Ghislanzoni, author of the libretto for Verdi’s Aida; in Pescarenico, on the other hand, there will be quotations from Manzoni’s I Promessi Sposi.

The project is completed by new illuminated arches installed in Corso Martiri, which add to the lights already present in the main streets of the city thanks to the contribution of local traders.

Initiative organised by the Municipality of Lecco.
