CAPOLAVORO PER LECCO (a masterpiece for Lecco) is an exhibition event promoted by the Cultural Association and the Madonna del Rosario Pastoral Community, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco.

The masterpiece starring in the exhibition will be the Sacra Conversazione (Sacred Conversation) by Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci known as Perugino. Also known as Pala Tezi (Tezi Altarpiece), from the name of the patron, it was painted in 1500 by Perugino and is currently preserved at the National Gallery of Umbria in Perugia.
The work – a large oil on panel (134×178) – is a symbol of the artist’s maturity and representative of his creative phase.

Also on display, from 20 December, will be the wooden sculpture Madonna adorante (Madonna adoring) by Giovanni Antonio di Giordano, dated 1499, preserved in the church of Castelluccio di Norcia, which survived the 2016 earthquake.

The inauguration will be on Thursday, 5 December at 6 p.m. with a lecture entitled ‘The search for perfection in Perugino’s painting’ and musical interlude for flute and harp.
