Mount Resegone, with its characteristic saw-like shape, is an icon of the Lecco Pre-Alps, visible even from Milan on clear days. But there is a hidden gem, off the beaten track, that deserves to be explored: the Caldera Valley.
We will set off from Versasio, climbing along the historic path no. 1, with a variant that will lead us to a curious boulder with human features, known as “l’Omm de Sass” (meaning “stone man” in the local dialect). We will reach the summit of Resegone, where the Azzoni Hut will welcome us for a well-deserved rest.
For the descent, we will take path no. 8, which turns into path no. 16, crossing the picturesque Caldera Valley, a landscape reminiscent of lunar scenarios. The route will take us to the Forbesette spring, from where we will continue on path no. 7, the Resegone ring, which will take us back to the Piani d’Erna. From there, we will descend to Lecco via the Spreafico spring and the Stoppani hut.
An ideal excursion for those who want to discover the secret side of the Resegone.
