The Sentiero del Viandante (“Wayfarer’s Path”) is an ancient scenic trail offering stunning views over Lake Como. Along the way, we’ll walk through picturesque villages, charming courtyards, mountain churches, and terraced landscapes dotted with vineyards and olive trees.
Our journey begins in Varenna, a delightful village with narrow cobbled streets and a lovely lakeside promenade. From there, we’ll hike up to the hamlet of Vezio, crowned by its medieval castle. We’ll have the opportunity to visit the Castle of Vezio, discover its fascinating history and curious legends—ghosts included—and enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the lake.
We’ll then follow a gently undulating path through olive groves and points of interest, such as the remains of the old water-powered funicular that once served the Grand Hotel Regoledo, and the renowned Orrido di Bellano, a dramatic gorge carved by the Pioverna River over centuries. From the Orrido, it’s just a short walk to Bellano station, where we’ll catch the train back to Varenna.
