A solo exhibition by the artist Nicola Villa, organised by Acmt Odv, curated by Michele Tavola and staged at the Simul exhibition venues as part of the Municipality of Lecco’s exhibition programme.

The exhibition, which also enjoys the patronage of ASST Lecco, is being held to mark the 30th anniversary of the association, which collaborates with and supports the local palliative care network of the Department of Frailty (Resegone Hospice and Home-based Palliative Care) and the ASST Lecco Unit for Chronic Conditions, Pain Management and Paediatric Palliative Care. It also takes the form of a ‘distributed’ exhibition: it will in fact be open to the public free of charge from 27 June to 20 September at various locations across the city, including the Torre Viscontea, the Palazzo delle Paure, Piazza XX Settembre, the Archaeological Museum and the Natural History Museum at Palazzo Belgiojoso, the Chapel of San Carlo in the Basilica of San Nicolò, and the Resegone Hospice at the ‘Alessandro Manzoni’ Hospital in Lecco.

On display are paintings on canvas and paper, sculptures, installations, drawings and engravings, right through to the artist’s latest explorations into digital and multimedia forms, presenting a retrospective of many of the artist’s works, as well as pieces created specifically for the occasion. Furthermore, throughout the exhibition period, conferences, talks and discussions will be organised with the aim of raising awareness of palliative care, both through the presentation of the projects and through the idea of care as a universal form of beauty, emphasising the need for a form of medicine capable of placing the individual – with all their values and relationships – at the centre.
