A timeless journey through the settings of The Betrothed

The first edition of the Camminata Manzoniana, the non-competitive walk that takes in the sites in the Lecco area immortalised by Alessandro Manzoni’s masterpiece The Betrothed, took place in 1973. The idea was conceived to mark the centenary of the author’s death, during a training course for new tourist guides organised by the Lecco Tourist Board, in response to the increase in visits from schools, clubs and groups keen to discover the settings of the novel.

Over time, the walk has become a true tradition in Lecco, involving local associations, volunteers and institutions. Today, it is a fixed event on Lecco’s cultural calendar and continues to attract hundreds of participants of all ages.
Each year’s event renews the tribute to The Betrothed and its author: a community festival that combines culture, sport, history and a passion for the local area.

A unique opportunity to relive the places and atmospheres of Manzoni’s world!
