{"id":3277,"date":"2024-04-05T16:32:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T14:32:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leccotourism.it\/?p=3277"},"modified":"2026-01-29T17:06:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T16:06:19","slug":"church-and-museum-of-the-blessed-serafino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leccotourism.it\/en\/church-and-museum-of-the-blessed-serafino\/","title":{"rendered":"Church and museum of the Blessed Serafino"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A place of great literary fascination and deep religious spirit, the <strong>church of San Giovanni Battista detta del Beato Serafino<\/strong> is located in Lecco in the <strong>Chiuso<\/strong> district.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The little church is on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/leccotourism.it\/en\/manzoni-itinerary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Manzoni Itinerary<\/a><\/strong> and lies on the <strong>main road<\/strong> that connects Lecco with Bergamo. <strong>Romanesque<\/strong> in origin with a <strong>gabled fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>, the richness of the interior is astonishing. A <strong>cycle of frescos dating from the fifteenth century <\/strong>can be seen here, attributed to Giovan Pietro da Cemmo, a painter originally from Valcamonica.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a side chapel, the urn and the chest that contained the remains of the <strong>Blessed Saint Serafino Morazzone <\/strong>who, according to tradition, was Alessandro Manzoni\u2019s confessor. Indeed, he was the author\u2019s inspiration for the character presented in the <strong>first draft of the story of Fermo and Lucia<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also visit, near the church of Chiuso, in Via Innominato, 2, the old rectory of Chiuso, now a <strong>museum dedicated to the Blessed Serafino Morazzone<\/strong>, where documents and objects linked to the curate are preserved, and there is more.
