Although there are marked height differences, it is not technically difficult, with a few more demanding but short stretches. The route combines the natural beauty of the landscape with the mountaineering tradition of the Lecco area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The starting point of the route is the car park of the Piani d&#8217;Erna cable car station. It continues along path number 1 and, after a walk of about twenty minutes, follows a diversion to the left that leads to the Ferrata Gamma 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first part is characterised by strong exposure but with limited technical difficulty due to the provision of numerous ladders for climbing the initial wall. At the end of this first section, there is an escape route that leads to Rifugio Stoppani. Alternatively, climbers can move on to the second part and continue on the <em>via ferrata<\/em> over the steep Punta Centa, then along a wide ridge until reaching the top of Pizzo d&#8217;Erna. At the end of the <em>ferrata<\/em>, there is a well-equipped and very welcoming tourist area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To descend, walk to the cable car station and head for Versasio, which is open nearly all year round, or take the path towards Rifugio Stoppani and then downhill to the car park.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ferrata Gamma 1 is one of the most popular and characteristic \u2018iron paths\u2019, or protected climbing routes, in the Lombard Prealps and runs along the Pizzo d&#8217;Erna.
