The entrance to the Valsassina highway marks the border of the district.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The little centre of <strong>Belledo<\/strong> rose up a little way from the <strong>Bione<\/strong> river, protected at the rear by the Cornello, one of the outermost offshoots of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/leccotourism.it\/en\/monte-resegone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Monte Resegone<\/a><\/strong>. Ancient Belledo was a group of rural and agricultural sites supported by a small <strong>mountain<\/strong> economy and <strong>cattle rearing<\/strong>. In the twentieth century, the little district went through a <strong>period of development<\/strong>: the fascinating centre of Belledo is actually a group of industrial houses in Via Risorgimento, around thirty apartments built in the nineteen forties specifically for the industry\u2019s employees. This is evidence of the great far-sightedness of Italian industrialists in ensuring comfortable, safe and aesthetically pleasing accommodation for their employees. The narrow alleys of ancient Belledo hide unexpected surprises.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The origin of the name: <\/strong>According to some scholars, the place name \u201cBelledo&#8221; may have come from the Latin word betulledus, that is, \u201cbirch wood\u201d; others claim it may refer to an old term for fences for flocks.<br><strong>Inhabitants\u2019 nickname: <\/strong>\u201cCascia sass\u201d, that is, \u201cstone throwers\u201d, a reference to the stone quarries that were once found in the district&#8217;s territory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Not to be missed:<\/strong> a walk in old Belledo.
