{"id":5878,"date":"2024-09-10T12:43:43","date_gmt":"2024-09-10T10:43:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leccotourism.it\/?p=5878"},"modified":"2024-09-10T12:51:27","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T10:51:27","slug":"teatro-della-societa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leccotourism.it\/en\/teatro-della-societa\/","title":{"rendered":"Teatro della Societ\u00e0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lying in the heart of the centre of Lecco in Piazza Garibaldi, the <strong>Teatro della Societ\u00e0<\/strong> was inaugurated in 1844 with the staging of Gaetano <strong>Donizetti\u2019s<\/strong> opera \u201cAnna Bolena\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed by the architect <strong>Giuseppe Bovara<\/strong> in 1835, its forms and its special acoustics recall the characteristics of the famous <strong>Teatro alla Scala di Milano. <\/strong>The theatre\u2019s architecture reflects the <strong>neoclassical<\/strong> taste of the day, with a facade that immediately captures the attention with its harmonious lines and sophisticated details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside, it is luxurious with <strong>extravagant decorations and a richly-adorned room<\/strong>, capable of accommodating more than 500 people. Each feature, from the early nineteenth-century seats in red velvet to the majestic chandelier, contributes to the creation of <strong>an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The large fresco of the &#8220;<strong>Teatro della vita&#8221; by Orlando Sora<\/strong>, dating from 1978-79, turns the vault into a wonderful stage for the figures and<strong> painted putti <\/strong>in a boundless sky<strong>, <\/strong>depicting <strong>various times in a man\u2019s life<\/strong>\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Teatro della Societ\u00e0 was previously the stage for <strong>countless historical and cultural events<\/strong> that involved the city. Since it\u2019s inauguration, it has been the setting for numerous shows <strong>of operas, dramas and concerts <\/strong>that have enchanted generations of spectators. Among its most illustrious guests are <strong>Giuseppe Verdi, <\/strong>who found inspiration here for some of his most famous operas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 31 May 2017, the Teatro della Societ\u00e0 was obliged to close its doors due to engineering improvements, asbestos removal and ceiling reinforcements, with the aim of preserving and restoring <strong>Orlando Sora\u2019s precious painting.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the campaign of surveys ordered by the municipal administration, <strong>nineteenth-century decorations<\/strong> and the <strong>original colours of doors and upper circles <\/strong>emerged, which will be completely restored in the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the Teatro della Societ\u00e0 cannot yet be visited.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lying in the heart of the centre of Lecco in Piazza Garibaldi, the Teatro della Societ\u00e0 was inaugurated in 1844 with the staging of Gaetano Donizetti\u2019s opera \u201cAnna Bolena\u201d.&nbsp; Designed by the architect Giuseppe Bovara in 1835, its forms and its special acoustics recall the characteristics of the famous Teatro alla Scala di Milano.
