Piani Resinelli is a peaceful oasis immersed in nature between Corni del Nibbio to the east, the Southern Grigna to the north and Monte Coltignone to the south. It is the perfect getaway to escape the city or for taking part in sports.

Many well-equipped trails and climbing routes of great historical and mountaineering appeal start from Piani Resinelli and there are various cycling routes and paths suitable for both beginners and experienced hikers.

The view from the plateau is breathtaking and ranges from the majestic Rhaetian Alps to Monte Rosa, with a stunning panorama of Lecco, the eastern arm of Lake Como and the smaller lakes of Alta Brianza, all the way to Milan.

The earliest recorded mention of Piani Resinelli came in the 17th century when the area was used as pasture for livestock. It was named after the Resinelli family, who built a structure for catching birds here in the 1800s. It was an important mining centre in the 17th and 19th centuries: the lead, zinc and calamine mines were very important for the burgeoning metallurgical industry of those days. The construction of a small church and a road in the 20th century marked the beginning of the tourist era. These days, there are many cabins, hotels and restaurants.

Piani Resinelli quickly became a magnet for mountain lovers and climbers drawn to the many outdoor activities it offers and the stunning landscape. A panoramic walkway was built in 2021: suspended 12 metres above the ground, it can be reached by a 30-minute walk, suitable for all. It offers spectacular views of the city of Lecco, Lake Como and the surrounding plain – a unique experience suspended in mid-air.
