Following in Alessandro Manzoni’s footsteps in Lecco, where The Betrothed came to life
After the devastating plague of 1630, which profoundly influenced Manzoni’s work and to which he dedicated two chapters (31st and 32nd), many commemorative chapels were built to honour the victims of the epidemic throughout Lecco.
Among these, the chapel located in Via Agudio in the municipality of Malgrate is one of the very few still standing and the best preserved in the Lecco area.
