For those seeking more difficult challenges, the Campelli Ring and trekking to the peak of Monte Sodadura are the perfect choices.

In the winter, on the other hand, Piani di Artavaggio turns into a paradise for snow lovers: a perfect ski resort for beginners and experts, it is also a place where the more daring can practise ski mountaineering. There is no shortage of trails for snowshoeing through silent landscapes and there’s an entertaining Fun Park for families and children.

Four welcoming mountain shelters – Rifugio Sassi Castelli, Baita della Luna, Rifugio A. Casari and Rifugio Nicola – offer refreshments and traditional dishes for rounding off the experience with the warmth of mountain hospitality. Getting to Piani di Artavaggio is easy by cable car from Moggio in Valsassina but, for sportier types, there are trails that start from the valley floor and arrive at the destination, offering full immersion in nature.
