The Ferrata Gamma 2 is renowned as one of the most difficult, challenging and evocative routes in the area and runs along the ridges of Monte Resegone.

Piani d’Erna can be reached from the car park of the cable car station by various means: by cable car, on foot or along Ferrata Gamma 1. From the final cable car station, follow path number 5, walk for about 15 minutes then turn left. Next, follow path number 1 to Rifugio Azzoni and, after another fifteen-minute walk, turn left to reach the start of the via ferrata

The first part of the via ferrata leads to a flat ledge and then a vertical section with a very exposed wall. There is a succession of short ledges leading to the second key point of the ferrata: a vertical ‘chimney dihedral’, a passage that requires a lot of technical skill and challenges even the most experienced climbers. Once overcome, the route ascends to the top of Dente del Resegone. Unlike Gamma 1, Ferrata Gamma 2 has no escape routes.

On the descent, the opposite slope can be explored along path number 10. After a right turn, it takes 15 minutes to reach the Azzoni refuge on the summit of Monte Resegone. From there, descend along path number 1 to the starting point.
