Complex of San Pietro al Monte
Where time stands still amidst art, nature, and spirituality
For anyone wishing to be immersed in nature on a pleasant, easy but panoramic hike, Piana di San Tomaso is the perfect spot. A natural terrace at an altitude of 580 metres, it offers a breathtaking panorama of the lake, the city of Lecco and the beautiful mountains of Grignetta, San Martino, Due Mani and Resegone. This vantage point also provides stunning views of Lake Garlate, the lakes Annone and Pusiano, the River Adda and lower Brianza.
The church was built in 1838 and has recently been restored. It preserves a valuable altarpiece of the Virgin Mary with Saints Tomaso and Giovanni di Dio.
The Museum of Agriculture, curated by the Comunità Montana, opened in 2000 and displays the tools, equipment, and machinery used in farming, along with a reconstruction of the bedroom and kitchen of a nineteenth-century farmhouse.
Tip: San Tomaso is a perfect destination for all seasons, but spring is highly recommended, when the almond trees are in bloom!
